Writing Fellows Programm
TUM Writing Fellows sind muttersprachliche (oder beinahe muttersprachliche) englischsprachige Studierende, die als Lehrassistent/innen in Lehrveranstaltungen mit einem Schwerpunkt auf schriftlicher Arbeit und regelmäßig im English Writing Center tätig sind. Das Programm hat das langfristige Ziel, Fellows in jeder der 7 Schools der TUM zu gewinnen. So werden Studierende aller Studienprogramme der TUM zukünftig mit Fellows arbeiten können, die sowohl Expert/innen im Schreiben auf Englisch, als auch kompetent im Fachgebiet der Studierenden sind.
Schulung
Writing Fellows werden aufgrund ihrer nachweislich exzellenten schriftlichen Englischkenntnisse, sowie ihrer Begeisterung diese in ihren Rollen als Studierende und Tutoren weiterzuentwickeln eingestellt. Writing Fellows müssen ein straffes Trainingsprogramm absolvieren, das unter anderem Arbeit vor Ort, Selbststudium, gemeinsames Lernen und Üben mit anderen Fellows und das Betreuen eines fortgeschrittenen Englishkurses im Sprachenzentrum als Lehrassistent beinhaltet. Der erfolgreiche Abschluss des Trainings wird mit einem Zertifikat als Tutor für English belohnt, welches zusammen mit TUM ProLehre | Media and Didactic ausgestellt wird und an allen bayerischen Hochschulen anerkannt ist.

Wenn Sie sich als Writing Fellow bewerben möchten, senden Sie Ihren Lebenslauf, ein Anschreiben und einen Beispieltext (500 Wörter) an wellershausen(at)zv.tum.de.
Writing Fellows werden gemäß der "Vergütungssätze von wissenschaftlichen und studentischen Hilfskräften" bezahlt. Sie profitieren zudem stark von der Verantwortung und der Arbeitserfahrung, die sie als Teil eines Beratungsteams am English Writing Center sammeln.

Aleksandra Daniluk - Chemistry

Aleksandra was born in Poland but moved to Houston, Texas, at the age of eight, where she attended elementary school. After her return to Poland, she extensively studied the English language which led to her working as an English Tutor. She studied German for six years and moved to Munich in 2019. Currently she is a chemistry student pursuing a bachelor’s degree. In her free time, Aleksandra loves hiking in the Alps and spending time with her friends.
Huan Hoang - Data Engineering and Analytics

Born and raised in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, Huan developed a passion for languages early on. He specialized in English during secondary school and in German during high school. After finishing high school, Huan moved to Germany to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the Technical University of Darmstadt. During his studies, he also completed an exchange semester at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon, South Korea. Currently, Huan is pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Engineering and Analytics at the Technical University of Munich. In his free time, Huan enjoys exploring cafes in Munich to find the best matcha latte, hanging out with friends, and baking.
Emilia Kinzler - Bioeconomy

Born into a German speaking household in London, Emilia grew up speaking both English and German fluently. She edits for a student newspaper and is passionate about sustainability and the untapped potential of the semi colon. When she is not working towards her Bachelor’s degree in Bioeconomy at the TUM campus Straubing, you will typically find Emilia reading the nearest trashy fiction book or rowing.
Alora Kraus - Sustainable Resource Management

Alora is from the United States and grew up in the state of Iowa. Currently, she is a master’s student in Sustainable Resource Management at TUM. She has a keen interest in sustainable agriculture, although her background is in biochemistry and English writing. Alora worked as an English writing tutor at the University of Iowa during her bachelor’s, and she is so thrilled to be doing it again in Germany! When she’s not working or studying, Alora loves to cook and experiment with vegan recipes, play chess, enjoy the outdoors, and do crossword puzzles. Fun fact: Alora has dabbled in making her own crosswords and her ultimate dream is to get published in the New York Times.
Harry L - Aerospace Engineering

Harry was born in New Zealand but moved to Australia at a young age, where he attended primary and high school. After graduating, he gathered a variety of work experience as a tutor, dental nurse and telephone interviewer, before moving to Germany. Currently, he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Nathan Mao - Sustainable Resource Management

Nathan was born in Taipei, Taiwan but grew up in Vancouver, Canada. He completed his Bachelor of Environmental Science at the University of British Columbia and moved to Germany to pursue his Master's in Sustainable Resource Management at TUM. Nathan has had experience peer reviewing papers during his bachelor's, and he is excited to start working as an English writing tutor in Germany! When Nathan is not working or studying, he enjoys participating in competitive sports such as basketball, volleyball and mixed martial arts. Fun fact: Nathan enjoys eating an unreasonable amount of food while binge-watching TV shows such as The Office (US) and playing video games.
Nicholas McCay - Responsibility in Science, Engineering, and Technology

Nicholas McCay is from the United States and grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism - News Performance from Western Illinois University. After a short stint as a general assignment reporter, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, and began working in the experiential marketing field. He then moved to Los Angeles, California, and started working in the TV/Film industry. Nicholas began a blog that turned into an E-Book, podcast, and production company called: Eclectic Spacewalk. He is now pursuing a master's degree in Responsibility in Science, Engineering, and Technology in the STS department at TUM. In his free time, he plays soccer, watches movies and documentaries, and loves reading.
Amanda M. Rodrigues - Management and Technology

Amanda was born and raised in São Paulo, the largest city in South America, and has studied English and German since elementary school. She is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in Management and Technology at TUM. In addition to German and English, Amanda speaks Portuguese and Spanish and is learning Italian. When she is not working, she can be found playing the NYT Games or spending time with her friends.
Laura Schleicher - Sustainable Resource Management

Laura was born in Germany and has studied English since elementary school. Having completed her bachelor’s studies in the Netherlands, a program entirely taught in English, she also spent a semester abroad in the United States in California. Laura previously worked at a Writing Center in the Netherlands and is excited about working with her peers. She is currently pursuing her masters in Sustainable Resource Management at TUM and enjoys Bavaria's fantastic nature and outdoors!
Dhakshain Balaji Venkatesh - Power Engineering

Born and raised in India, Balaji grew up speaking English at a very early age. He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology. His interests in sustainable future energies and power systems brought him to TUM, where he pursues a Master’s degree in Power Engineering. In his free time, he loves to read, hike with friends, and watch cooking shows.
Kay Wolf - Transportation Engineering

Originally from San Francisco, Kay earned his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science (with a minor in Philosophy) from the University of Minnesota and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Spatial Planning and Transportation Engineering at Aalto University in Finland. He's currently on a year-long exchange at TUM under the Civil Engineering department. His varied work experiences include: tutoring in English and math; conducting soil analyses in Alice Springs, Australia; installing and troubleshooting water monitoring equipment in Melbourne, Australia; repairing and assembling bicycles in Juneau, Alaska (among other places); and treating stormwater runoff in the Seattle region in the US. His hobbies include climbing, knitting, reading, and snowboarding.
Jinseo Yu - Environmental Engineering

Jinseo Yu was born in Seoul, Korea, and spent much of his childhood in the American Midwest, where he learned English. He returned to Korea, where he attended high school and earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Environmental Engineering at TUM. In addition to English and his native Korean, he can speak German and some Turkish, and has previously worked as an intern in the Turkish city of Bursa. His hobbies include playing basketball at Heimeranplatz and practicing piano at the Münchner Stadtbibliothek. He loves watching football, and is an avid fan of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.
