German for Researchers
If you work or do research at the TUM during the day, this program lets you learn German in the evening.
Our courses
- last eight weeks,
- take place twice a week from 6 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.,
- are online or at the Munich campus,
- are free of charge.

Participation
The program is open to doctoral candidates, postdocs, visiting scholars and international staff at TUM.
If you have previous experience with German, please check your language level using our placement test or the test at https://www.hueber.de/momente/einstufungstest. (It is not necessary to send your test result to the Language Center.) You can also choose a course either one level up from your most recently completed course in German, provided the course was at the TUM or based on a certificate issued according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
Application Form
Please use your TUM-ID and your password (as in TUMonline) to log in.
When you first come to the CollabBayern website, please enter "Technische Universität München" as the institution.
The number of participants per course is limited. If the number of applications exceeds our capacity, selection will be made by lottery.
Please note: FRMII staff members who do not have a TUM E-mail address please send us an email with your course request and the required confirmation letter within the registration period to sprachenzentrum(at)tum.de (subject: German for Researchers).
