A Two-Week Academic and Cultural Experience in Munich
1–14 August 2026
The TUM–China FutureShapers Summer School will take place for the first time in August 2026.
This two-week program is designed for selected students from four leading Chinese partner universities:
- Tsinghua University
- Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS)
- Peking University
- Tongji University
The program offers participants an immersive introduction to the academic environment at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Students will deepen their German language skills, gain insights into Munich-based companies, connect with TUM students, and experience the social and cultural life of Germany first-hand.
- German languagen courses / Every morning (Monday-Friday) / Three 45-minute sessions per day
- Interactive and communicative learning formats
- Application of language skills in academic and everyday contexts
- Intercultural workshops with TUM students
- Certificate of participation upon completion of the program
Who Can Participate?
Participation in the TUM–China FutureShapers Summer School is exclusively open to students from TUM’s official Chinese partner universities:
- Tsinghua University
- Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (SIGS)
- Peking University
- Tongji University
Eligible applicants are currently enrolled Bachelor’s or Master’s students.
A total of 20 places are available.
Participants will be nominated and selected by the respective partner universities in coordination with TUM.
We particularly encourage students to apply who:
- Are fluent in English
- Ideally have some prior knowledge of German (any level welcome)
- Have a strong interest in studying or working in Germany
- Are curious about German culture and academic life
The participation fee is EUR 2,700 (Early Bird rate) or EUR 2,800 (regular rate).
An additional registration fee of EUR 200 applies.
Payment of the participation fee is only required after official admission to the program.
Included in the Fee
- Academic program (e.g., faculty visits and company visits)
- German language course
- Organized cultural activities
- Public transportation within Germany during the program period

Payment Deadlines:
Registration Fee (EUR 200)
- For the first application round: 20 April 2026
- For the second application round: 20 May 2026
Full Participation Fee (for all participants)

Cancellation until 31 May 2026
The participation fee will be fully refunded.
The registration fee of EUR 200 is non-refundable.
Cancellation from 1 June to 20 June 2026
50% of the participation fee will be refunded.
The registration fee of EUR 200 is non-refundable.
Cancellation from 21 June 2026 onwards
No refund is possible.
Special Regulation in Case of Visa Rejection
In the event of a documented visa rejection, the participation fee will be fully refunded. The registration fee of EUR 200 is non-refundable, as it covers administrative costs.
