In the world of Mariachis, there's actually no place for women. Nevertheless, there are a few women who have chosen a life as Mariachis. One of these musicians is María del Carmen. The German filmmaker Doris Dörrie accompanies the Estrellas de Jalisco, who perform at family gatherings, on holidays like Día de los Muertos, and on the streets of Mexico City. The female Mariachis express their anger and, at the same time, provide hope.
