English Courses for Staff

These courses provide the required qualification for Erasmus staff mobility in English-speaking countries/programs, but can also be attended as in-house training.

All seminars are free for TUM members, staff and doctoral students. By participating you will receive a certificate from the TUM Language Center.

Courses take place in Munich, Garching or virtually over Zoom. Zoom courses will be conducted online using licensed TUM-Zoom and Moodle. TUM-Zoom is approved data compliant for all courses.

Presenting Online

Level - Intermediate to Advanced: Presenting online in English has become an important part of many of our jobs at TUM. In this online seminar, we will focus on general presentation skills in English as well as specific tips and tricks for presenting online. The seminar will focus on presentations and online meetings for administrative work with each participant presenting several times during the week.

Level - Intermediate: How to conduct meetings, write emails, discuss interaction with students and administrative organization, and other topics of interest for those who would like to practice their English in a small group. Participants should bring samples of their work tasks to class!

TUM Topics

Level - Intermediate to Advanced: A conversation course on current topics at TUM ranging from university structure, sustainable architecture or artificial intelligence. Topics each week are determined by the participants based on articles, videos or stories from the news.

Intercultural Communication

Level - Intermediate to Advanced: Speaking English at TUM requires staff to communicate with other staff members, students and professors from around the world. This course will discuss, compare and contrast cultural beliefs, perceptions and communication styles. If the course cannot take place in person, it will be conducted online over Zoom.
