Courses during the Semester
We offer over 430 courses in 18 languages every semester. All courses are free of charge. Most courses are worth 3 ECTS points, and registration is done through TUMonline.
Intensive Courses
Block courses are offered for some languages during the semester breaks, often focusing on a special subject or skill.
Writing Consulting - German & English
Visit the English Writing Center or German Writing Assistance to receive one-to-one consulting in your writing. You can make as many as 3 appointments per week and 12 throughout the semester. This free service is an excellent way to learn long-term writing skills while improving your thesis, articles, essays, CV, or any other text you have to write during your studies.
Language Tests & Certificates
We offer DAAD language testing and certificates for the following languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish. These certificates can be used for internships and study abroad programs, namely DAAD, LAOTSE, TUMexchange and BWL.
TUMtandem
We connect you with another TUM student as a tandem partner for the following languages:
Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Spanish, Turkish.
Intercultural Communication
Intercultural competence is essential for fruitful communication among people from diverse cultures. The TUM Language Center offers numerous opportunities for global learning, with a special focus on building awareness of the distinct character of different cultures.
