Language Courses

If capacity allows, one to two places in every language course are reserved for academic staff (doctoral candidates included). Staff with student status are welcome to register via TUMonline. Otherwise please write an email to the lecturer of the course beforehand and come to the first lesson. Please note that a placement test may be required.

Writing Consulting (English & German)

Visit the English Writing Center or German Writing Assistance to receive one-to-one consulting in your writing. Whether you are a scientist or administrator at TUM, this free service is an excellent way to learn long-term writing skills while improving any TUM-related text. You can make as many as 3 appointments per week and 12 throughout the semester.

“Fit for Staff Mobility”


Intercultural competence is an essential skill for successfully working in an international environment. Actively reflecting one’s own cultural identity plays an important part in developing cultural awareness. In order to gain most from your exchange program and to be able to integrate your intercultural experiences profitably into your daily work, TUM Language Center offers this half-day intercultural training course in cooperation with the TUM Global & Alumni Office.

English Coaching Program

Professors are welcome to join the English Coaching Program to receive free one-to-one support with their written or spoken English. Academic and non-academic staff can also work with a coach in small groups with colleagues from their department. The appointments are fully tailored to your needs.
