Learn Russian at the TUM Language Center

Russian is the most spoken Slavic language in the world and is the native language of approximately 170 million people. Over 280 million people around the world speak Russian. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and is the most widely used language in Europe.

We offer Russian courses from level A1.1 through B1.2 following the CEFR.

Courses during the semester break

  • The program of the intensive courses in the lecture-free period is now available in TUMonline.
  • Registration starts 3 weeks before the first day of the intensive course.
  • Examinations are taken in the form of course-related academic work.

Course Registration

Students can register via TUMonline. Staff interested in taking a course should come to the first lesson.

The TUM Language Center reserves the right, in case of low number of present participants to cancel the courses.

Cooperation with the Polytechnic University of St. Petersburg

The TUM Language Center keeps a strategic partnership with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) (http://www.spbstu.ru/) and offers 2-week intensive course in summer for students to significantly improve their Russian language skills, to get to know a modern Russian university and to experience the rich culture and history of St. Petersburg.

Online tandem: In cooperation with the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the TUM Language Center offers an online tandem with the students of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University for students travelling to the summer school in St. Petersburg: This is a special opportunity to boost your Russian language skills.

TUMtandem brings TUM students together for structured intercultural conversation.
