Russian is the most spoken Slavic language in the world and is the native language of approximately 150 million people. Over 210 million people around the world speak Russian. It is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and is the most widely used language in Europe.
We offer Russian courses from level A1 through B2.1 following the CEFR.

- Examinations are taken in the form of course-related academic work.
TUMtandem brings TUM students together for structured intercultural conversation.
The TUM Language Center keeps a strategic partnership with St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) and offers a 2-week intensive course in summer for students to significantly improve their Russian language skills, to get to know a modern Russian university and to experience the rich culture and history of St. Petersburg.
Information on the 2022 Summer School in Saint Petersburg will appear here in the spring of 2022.
As part of the partnership with Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU), the TUM Language Center offers participants of Russian courses (levels B1/B2) a supervised online tandem with students of Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University: A special opportunity to build and intensify Russian language skills.
The Virtual University of Bavaria (vhb) offers online language courses for Russian.
The courses can be a useful supplement to the Russian courses at TUM.
Please note that the TUM Language Center currently cannot guarantee that ECTS will be awarded for these courses.
All courses at vhb are free of charge for TUM students and registration is done with the TUM ID.
