Use of Tuition Fees at the Language Center of TUM
The Language Center finances ongoing training for teachers, cultural programs, development of online teaching materials, and lecturer positions.
The English Coaching Program was established in the summer semester 2010, so that professors and academic employees can receive English instruction and language support to optimize their use of the dominant international scientific language, English. Three new half lecturers will share this responsibility.
The languages German as a Foreign Language, English, Italian, Japanese, Swedish and Spanish are supported by tuition fees with six lecturer positions. In addition to their teaching responsibilities the lecturers are responsible for co-operating with other departments and the central administration of TUM, setting up the language programs, and ensuring qualified and professional instruction.
Furthermore, student fees are used to set up online teaching materials in the languages of English, Italian and Spanish. Students of the Language Center and the Student Council are regularly included in the ongoing evaluation of these measures. Evaluation reports and the study fees implementation plan are publicized by the TUM Quality Management on the website.
