TUM Language Center
The TUM Language Center plays a central role in the internationalization initiative of the Technical University Munich. We offer students and staff diverse opportunities to develop competence in a foreign language in addition to professional communication skills. Our program strongly emphasizes intercultural communication in the context of scientific research.

Professors, students and staff can make use of our various programs to improve their writing skills in the TUM's two working languages, English and German.
If you are planning to do a study program or internship abroad, you may have to provide proof of competence in a foreign language. At the TUM Language Center, you can take a test and receive a certificate corresponding to the level acheived.
Applicants for the program can take a test to receive certification of their level of language competence. Auditors can take courses at the TUM Language Center or join a Compact Program for German as a Foreign Language.
Intercultural competence is essential for fruitful communication among people from diverse cultures. The Language Center offers numerous opportunities for global learning, with a special focus on building awareness of the distinct character of different cultures.
